Prospecting In Derby Tasmania

Want to try your chances at striking it rich? Prospecting is enjoyed by young and old, whether it is for gemstones, gold or even meteorite fragments.
Little Blue Lake is a popular prospecting spot located near Derby. Once a mine hole, the lake now reflects a stunning aqua blue from the minerals at the bottom. Gem hunters should keep their eyes peeled for smoky quartz, topaz and amethyst. The Cascade River and Mutual River in the Derby region are also popular gemstones fossicking areas.
