Stay with us while you mountain bike Tasmania and Victoria

When Larry Cohen headed to Tassie in 2017 with a group of mates for a mountain bike adventure, he wasn’t expecting it to change his life.

Larry and his buddies had an epic trip riding Blue Tier and Blue Derby. While he was there he fell in love with the quaint laid-back town of Derby. It had friendly locals, a pristine environment and awesome trails. What more could anyone want?

And so began a new adventure for the Cohen family.

Not long afterwards, they bought an old miner’s cottage. They gave it a modern renovation, to deliver their first property Derby Digs Cottage.

As a family of mountain biking enthusiasts, the Cohen’s knew what guests would need to make their stay comfortable. They created a home away from home. At Digs Lodgings you can relax, socialise and make memories of special trips together.

Construction of Derby Digs Barn followed in 2018. It has stunning views of the Derby MTB tracks and Ringarooma River.

Soon, establishment of Maydena Mountain Bike Park was announced. What started as a plan for one cottage became a vision to provide quality accommodation for anyone who wanted to mountain bike Tasmania.

The Digs Lodgings portfolio soon included the beautiful 4-bedroom Schoolmasters Digs located right next door to the Maydena Bike Park.

The newest Digs property is in Warburton, in the beautiful Victorian Yarra Ranges. Warburton Valley has a growing reputation as a MTB destination. Construction of more than 160km of new trails will start mid-2021.

A beautiful destination for cycling, hiking and exploring, Warburton is the perfect spot for a weekend trip or family getaway.

Something special in every property

In every Digs property you’ll find a beautiful timber table and benches. Each of these signature pieces were handcrafted by the owner Larry from local timber.

The tradition started at the first Digs property, Derby Digs Cottage. During construction arborists discovered two large trees on the property that were not safe, so when they were removed, Larry used the timber and built a table and benches large enough for a big group to gather around and enjoy a meal together.

These tables signify what Digs Lodgings are all about – a place where family and friends gather to enjoy quality time together, share a meal, a few laughs and a holiday they’ll talk about for years to come.

We’d love to welcome you to Digs Lodgings. Check availability to book your next stay.

“Had a wonderful stay at Schoolmasters Digs. We had a small issue with booking, but the owner Larry rectified this very quickly. All amenities are provided including washing machine, dryer, dishwasher and the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. We enjoyed looking around Mount Field National Park and Lake Pedder. Thank you, Larry for your kindness throughout our stay. We highly recommend your lovely homes, be it for mountain bikers or tourists just checking out the lovely National Parks.”
